i'm ken wayne and i'm catherine heenan for pam moore, one of the places where there's already way too much potential fuel for wildfire. the santa cruz mountains. kron four's. rob fladeboe has the story. >> san jose fire captain mitch showed me how relative humidity had already dropped to 30% by 1130. this morning. he notes that anything below 40% is worrisome. this truck is stocked with a good supply of cold water to help keep firefighters hydrated these temperatures were expected to push into the 90's today. the holiday weekend along with high heat and low humidity is keeping firefighters busy. >> one company of hours yesterday was on for vegetation fires that i'm aware of in a couple of them were rather large. we do have large vegetation fires right here in the city calfire made short work of a wildfire off china grade road in the santa cruz mountains. >> no homes or structures were threatened. no evacuations occurred in the fire was brought under control after burning just over 5 acres. but you don't have to look far to see that vegetation fires like the one that scorched the area

thank you for joining us for kron 4 news at 6 i'm pam moore and i'm justine waldman. ken wayne has the night off. pgs notified the city of napa that may be required to turn off power as pressure is put on the grid. here's what we know right now. power may be turned off in the city of napa. for one to 2 hours in a series of rotating block outages. the decision to conduct the outages will be made by cal iso, which is the grid operator pg e is strongly encouraging people to conserve energy as a power alert is in effect right now. it started at 5. but they're also saying customer should be prepared for a potential outage. the power alert is in effect until 10 o'clock tonight and it will go back into effect tomorrow night from 6 until 9. so here are some ways that you can conserve energy right now. those steps include setting thermostats to 78 degrees or higher. avoiding the use of major appliances and turning off unnecessary lights. we of course will be monitoring the situation in napa all night. and we'll bring you a live report tonight on kron 4 news at 8 o'clock. and w

i'm catherine heenan in for pam moore. and i'm ken wayne police in rohnert park are searching for a shooter tonight. one person was shot and killed at an apartment complex. it happened at the park ridge apartments on snyder lane. kron four's. gayle ong is live at the scene of that shooting with the very latest on the investigation, including a keep. >> detail being released kale. >> yeah, i can. and katherine police still have this part of the complex blocked off. you can see over there. investigators still here combing the scene of the shooting that happened in the middle of the day. police say the shooting happened around 2 to 51 this afternoon when officers arrived on scene, they found a 29 year-old man with multiple gunshot wounds. people who live in the complex say they heard at least 4 rounds of gunshots. police confirm the victim lived here at the park ridge apartment complex and has this update on the suspect vehicle. >> we were told witnesses and people in the area that the potential suspect vehicle was last seen.

i'm pam moore. i'm jonathan mccall. ken wayne has the night off. we have been following this breaking news since 6 o'clock fire crews. >> battling the flames out on a number of homes for hours. the scene happening on skyline drive near hans park evacuation orders are now in place for folks along skyline drive between para whole way and silverview court found force and thorn is live near where the fire folding and he's there now with the latest. dan. >> a jonathan, we still very active scene here on skyline. drive. firefighters behind us they actually put out flames on 2 structures that were burning. this started as a vegetation fire around 5 o'clock this scene here of neighborhood had to evacuated. people were told to get out of this area as firefighters were continuing to battle. the flames multiple other homes in this neighborhood. we were told were threatened wind also playing a factor in how this fire spread some members were sent into the neighborhood areas not threatening some of those homes and evacuation order was put in over an hour ago in

i'm ken wayne and i'm pam moore. law enforcement and fire departments in the east. bay have teamed up to crack down on people looking to possess to sell and to release illegal fireworks. this comes in the lead up to the 4th of july holiday. of course, anonymous with fireworks. >> and as the bay area continues to deal with severe drought conditions. kron four's. theresa has the story. >> the explosion shattering the morning silent to walnut creek. >> in san jose. this was the scene as police netted this large cache of goods in san mateo, look at this. 15,000 pounds in all of these cases illegal fireworks and all recent bus as law enforcement and firefighters drill down hoping to limit the dangerous explosives, especially with the drought causing even more concern for fire to rip through a community. >> across the entire region with these drought conditions and the super dangerous fire conditions we have as a result. use of fireworks anywhere across your among your viewing audience would height of irresponsibility. nonetheless. we do see them and hear them going off.
