brian: good morning. pedro: we saw president biden talking about the debt ceiling but amongst members of the, what is the importance of those institutions with the current discussion in washington? brian: when it comes to the debt ceiling, the stakes couldn't be larger. a default would have massive consequences and not just here for our economy but around the world and when you think about the debt ceiling, you have to consider what it is is a constraint on the ability of the u.s. treasury to issue a new debt and accumulate. it has been put in place by spending that was previously authorized so the treasury has its hands tied. we know janet yellen has been pressing for months on congress to do something about the debt ceiling knowing that it was reinstated effective in august. with the treasury not being able to pay its bills, internally, it will not be able to do that past october 18. it is currently tapping into the extraordinary measures to pay off those bills and as a reminder, the bills look like u.s

petito's family says they want brian found alive. let's go to mark eiglarsh, criminal defense attorney. the coroner was very limiting with anything. what do you think is going on behind the scenes? >> first, he wanted to make sure that he didn't find himself a guest of the local jail by revealing anything more than the statute allows him too. by law in wyoming, the only thing he can reveal is the cause of death. the reporters got more out of him like she wasn't pregnant and other details. for the most part, we wanted to know did he do it. i defer to the fbi. that's how we did side. was there any kind of bruising. all right. we can't talk about that. did you see any physical evidence that it was hands versus an object? cannot tell you that. still, a lot that they know that they're not telling us. with good reason. >> neil: so mark, the fact that they have not upped the charges beyond death and a credit card, can there be ways to determine that, that they don't have enough information or they do and they're piecing it together? >> here

investigators found articles belonging to brian laundrie. no confirmation they've found him or his body or any remains. what do you make of all of this? >> well, they are going with what they know right now, which is that they have items which i have no doubt the parents said, yes, that's brian's probably camping gear, backpack, a tarp, a tent, something like that. but the fact they have cadaver dogs there is really telling. it means they must have found something to indicate there are human remains. the fact they brought a coroner. but those two things contradict one another. if you have a body, you don't need cadaver dogs. you just need a coroner. so it really raises the question, are they still looking for human remains, and if they've found them, do they actually belong to brian laundrie? the greater question, jake, is how the parents knew exactly where to look for their son's belongings that they found very quickly once they came off the path. it makes you wonder if they knew all along where brian was, if, indeed, they've found some tra

he was asked again, do you know where brian is, he said, we know exactly where brian is. i immediately called my clients and said, hey, was brian picked up? do you know where he is because i don't know where he is? how do they know where he is if we don't, and that was on thursday. on friday when the fbi came to the laundrie residence, we then said, yes, we will fill out a missing person's report. that got twisted as though the family waited until friday to report him missing, which is not how it happened. >> it's unfair in the micro, but understandable in the macro because it just doesn't look right that the parents haven't wanted to cooperate, that brian didn't want to cooperate, that they wouldn't want to talk to the other family, so you can understand why people would be suspicious about their actions. >> absolutely. and you know, now's not the right time to talk about, you know, the situation with gabby, but the family was following my directions. i told them not to talk to anybody. not to say a word. i was the intermediary between the family and law enforcement, and

tim, you heard from leyla the morning the laundrie family attorney said brian -- brian's parents described him as upset when he left the house. and that they wished that they would have stopped him. there are so many questions around their actions that everyone reads into anything the attorney says because he says so little. what -- what questions does this raise for you? >> it raises all the questions i could possibly imagine anyone thinking of. what did they know? when did they know it? clearly, gabby's body wasn't found for six days after he left but where was she? and it didn't even occur to them apparently to ask him? they haven't put that information forward as far as he returns with her vehicle without her. it's his fiancee. she's not with him. is he upset because they broke up? okay. where is she? how is she? how is she doing? but it seems like the parents were only concerned with the wellbeing of their son, and not with his future bride to be. >> when brian's remains were found, the fbi -- um -- was able to confirm, like, within a day that it was him. and today, now his remains we

she said that she had brian and brian grabbed her face, grabbed her cheeks. it was sort of decided that that was a defensive move on his part. and police decided she was the primary aggressor because she was so adamant that she had him first and that he had visible scratches on his face. so there's an investigation going on into whether or not police to the right thing and we will let that play out. the other thing i want to say quickly as the cell phone. does it seem like normal parent behavior to you that brian, this is the story that the parents are telling police. brian goes on this hiking trip, it's gone for three days and doesn't take his new cell phone with him, and they waited to call police. i think most parents, my mom would be in that alligator infested water with pool goggles on looking for me. she wouldn't wait three days to call police so there's clear questions on that front. >> julie: there's no question in anyone's mind that brian laundries parents no more than they do. there is no reason to ignore police phone calls after your future daughte
