abc 7 news reporter j.r. stone is here to explain today's charges. reporter: at big part of this is coming from the autopsy of sean moore that was performed last january, and it found that two of the gunshots that hit him damaged liver and right: colon and led to his death. this body camera video shows the confrontation. officers originally responded to a neighbor's report that moore had violated a temporary restraining order. moore denied that and or told officers to leave. there was a back-and-forth. district officers say in 10 minutes, the officer elevated and nonviolent and contractor one that took sean moore's life. that was in 2017. moore did not pass away until 2020 while in jail on a separate case, but an attorney says the autopsy is key here. >> we think there is a clear nexus between the gunshots and the time of his death, and the fact that it took that long for him to die does not then negate the fact that what caused it was the officer's conduct. reporter: this is officer kenneth cha, and a picture showing some of the injuries he suffered

reporting live in hayward, j.r. stone, abc7 news. dan: thank you, j.r. ama: with only about a week before thanksgiving,'san franciscos health department -- before thanksgiving, san francisco's health department is putting out its safety plan. reporter: what a difference a year makes. we were told last year to stay home, don't invite anyone over for thanksgiving. we did not have a vaccine yet, so this year most of us have been vaccinated and therefore there is more we can do. with that comes some risks. this week, san francisco public schools began helping out -- began handing out these swab kits to anyone who has been symptomatic or in close contact with someone who has covid-19. >> this is another measure to have everyone in person learning safely. reporter: the swab test is in addition to the already available covid tests administered at the district's mobile testing sites. for the holidays, the district is following the recommendations of the cdc and health department, recommending families delay travel until everyone is fully vaccinated. continue to

abc 7 news reporter j.r. stone explains recent developments have changed this case. j.r.: this is a police body camera image from 2017 showing the late sean moore. he was shot minutes later by san francisco police officer kenneth cha during this scuffle. he initially survived but three years later, he died. two years after that, san francisco district attorney chesa boudin has filed homicide charges against cha. autopsy show moore died as a result of the bullet wound. >> there are connections between the injuries and the gunshot. j.r.: he represents moore's mother and believes this is a step in the right direction towards officer accountability. as for the case, the body camera video shows the interaction between officer cha, his partner and sean moore. officers originally responded to a neighbor's report that moore violated a temporary restraining order. moore denied that and told officers to leave. there was a back-and-forth and the district attorney says in eight minutes, officer cha elevated a nonviolent encounter to one that took sean moore's life. moore did not

j.r. stone's in oakland with a behind-the-scenes look at the preparations. reporter: here come the packages. christmas is 6.5 weeks away but already. the u.s. postaltaltaltaltaltaltl processing and distribution center in oakland. they started ordering holiday packages more than a month ago and is well aware of the demand. >> it is taking longer to get things from the usps. even amazon slowed down a little. reporter: it could be due to supply shortages or retail shipping from overseas. they saw a 48% increase in package demand. we expect a high package numbers again. this is the second year the automated sorting system will be used for 30,000 packages soon be through this oakland facility every day. >> making sure tg sure delivered on time. reporter: the week of december 13 is the busiest of the year but this year, the day could come earlier because of supply chain issues and the push so many are making to byerly. >> i have anyway. anyway. reporter: machine is automated but usps still in need and looking for thousands of seasonal workers across the bay area.
