>> reporter: people that follow the case, that's kevin goff who reasons william bryan and this is according to the mother of ahmaud arbery. she said she was told by the prosecution that as the defense rested yesterday, just after that, the attorney went to the prosecution and said i want to make a plea deal for my client. we don't know what that was. we don't know what he was offering. we do know it was rejected by the state. why would wanda cooper jones tell this? it's because the state defense attorneys keep in very close contact with the victim's family. it would suggest that kevin goff has great concerns having heard the state's case and feels rather desperate at this point. we don't know exactly. he denied it going into court today but we'll wait to see. no sooner did that finish than as they were in court today, not in sight of the jury, he got up again and demanded a mistrial. it's about the fifth time he has done that, and he was saying it was due to protests that were o'curing outside of the courthouse yesterday that might have influenced the jury. the state rebutted and said you c

again, this defense attorney, kevin goff, who represents wil willia william bryan, asked for a mistrial because of reverend jesse jackson. the judge didn't grant it yesterday, he's not going to do it today. why are they doing this? is this essentially for an appeal or for people at home? what sense does this make? >> victor, it doesn't make a lot of sense to me at all. strategically i'm not seeing what's going on here. i spent about a decade as a federal criminal defense attorney and this is not the sort of move i would have been making. i think all of the attorneys for all three men are thinking about potential appeal. i don't think we're going to get an acquittal in this case. they are thinking ahead, and perhaps if there is something they can point to about media or bias somehow infiltrating the courtroom, perhaps, that's why he keeps raising this issue. but what i want to remind our viewers is trials are public. there is a sixth amendment right. it's connected to the defendant, but also the public at large, that courtrooms are meant to be for the people. and so this idea somehow tha

kevin goff. ke keeps putting himself there. he said he doesn't want anymore pastors sitting with the family. now he's calling it a public lynching. this has to be intentional for him? what are the smoke signals he's trying to send and to whom? >> i can't even imagine as an officer of the court, as an attorney that you would stand up and compare pastors peacefully standing with the victims of, the victim of an atrocious crime, make some comparison to a lynching when we can look at the events that occurred where mr. arbery lost his life and see a lynching. there's no ifs, ands, or buts about it. all his actions are blowing my mind. they're not furthering his cause. the court is annoyed and if he's building a record for an appeal, i don't see it. it's just ludicrous that he would make these comparisons when there's nothing on the record to suggest these pastors, in the courtroom, or outside, are doing anything to interfere. >> it's incensive, ignorant and no one believes he didn't know the power of his words and what he was saying

after my visit to the courthouse last, week defense attorney kevin goff asked the judge to bar any more black pastors from attending the trial. in an argument the judge said reprehensible gough, asserted that the presence in the courtroom a black pastors could be intimidating to jurors. the christian church, the disciples of, christ did not ordain me to be a black pastor. i am a pastor, call to serve all of gods children without regard to race, creed, or culture. when gough argued that the presence of black pastors is intimidating, his words suggested that black miss itself is a threat. this is telling because, to me, it seems that the three men on trial found ahmaud aubry's blankness intimidating as well. the arbery was an unarmed, jogger these men say that they assumed he was engaged in criminal activity and pursued him with weapons. one of the men recorded the group pursuing arbery, and one of them fatally shooting the young black man. quote, abolitionists to insisted on the full humanity of black people were seen us intimidating and disruptive to the social order. white or black, th

goff. as to what happened today in testimony, so, day two, of course, travis mcmichael, the man who killed ahmaud arbery, that's without question, we saw it on tape, it was the prosecution that was going after, as you pointed out, the inconsistencies that he has made on two very specific points. one, he was admitting on the witness stand and cross-examination that, no, they never did tell ahmaud arbery, as they were pursuing him through the neighborhood with their guns, that they were attempting to make a citizen's arrest. and then the other, more dramatic moment, came when it was linda that asked, well, wait a minute, you told police just hours after killing ahmaud arbery that you weren't really sure if he grabbed the gun, yet on the witness stand yesterday, you said ahmaud arbery grabbed your gun. that is a huge problem for the defense. here's the moment. >> detective specifically asked you, do you remember if he grabbed the shotgun at all? and your response was, i want to say he did, but
