senator bernie sanders from vermont and new jersey senator bob menendez announced a proposal for state and local tax deductions as a part of president biden's social spending proposal. this is about 15 minutes. at a time of massive wealth income inequality when the rich are becoming richer and working class are struggling, the job of congress it seems to me for the working families and to make certain that the wealthiest people in the country began to start paying their fair share of taxes. unfortunately, in 2017, the trump tax plan which was supported by every republican moved on in exactly the wrong direction. the vast majority in that proposal went to the wealthiest people in the country and the largest corporations. the people that needed the least resulted in a 2 trillion-dollar increase in our national debt. one of the many negative aspects of the tax plan was to limit deductions on state and local taxes to $10,000. that resulted in millions of middle-class and working-class families being forced to pay more in their federal taxation. that was a regressive and unfair proposal and
