city councilmember, lauren taylor's planned today to address gun violence in oakland a city that has had 120 homicides this year. it is time for those of us in positions of power and leadership. to roll up our sleeves and get to work. i believe that we should be laser focused on specific goals that we know will change the conditions on the streets. he laid. out a plan today that calls for doubling the solve rate for violent crimes double the capacity of deterrence programs reduced by half the number of unanswered 911 calls reduced disparities in public safety response and increase access to mental health resources after his presentation on these points we asked him about his stance on the controversial plan of defunding the police department. we need to bring all resources together to address this crisis. so yes more funding for police oakland city council has scaled back the funding of the police department and disbanded some of the departments divisions. this group says it's time to quit debating tactics and to come together seems like we all need to get on the same page when it co
