this was the scene around 08:00pm in san francisco's union square friday night when officers responded to looting and vandalism and high-end stores. what we saw was horrible at a press conference saturday mayor london breed praising the officers who responded and made arrest but says the damage still remains when people vandalize and commit those level of crimes in san francisco. we not only lose those businesses, we lose those jobs. >> we lose that tax revenue that helps to support our economy. that helps to support many of the social service programs that we have in the city in the first place. as of saturday sfpd chief bill scott says several people have been arrested. some of them think they got away with it. >> but i am confident i'm confident that there will be more arrests to follow chief scott says 2 firearms were seized and the person in this vehicle was armed. they took him into custody safely. >> they use the minimal amount of force that they had to use. they recovered the firearm. they impounded the vehicle and they recovered some of the property. >> chief scott has about a

julie jana katsuyama reporting live in union square in san francisco. thank you well. san jose police arrested two suspects tonight who are trying to steal from valley fair mall. police say the thieves took about $2000 worth of merchandise from the women's may season tried to run away, officers on the scene were able to stop and arrest them. authorities say both suspects will be booked for felony theft and burglary, and the chp is increasing freeway patrols near major shopping areas. following this recent wave of retail thefts, the agencies organized retail crime task force is working with local law enforcement agencies to investigate crime, arrest suspects and recover stolen merchandise statewide. the chp says it is already contacted local police to offer help. beer here, here, here here. but now we go to oakland and the latest victim of mass looting surveillance video shows a group of thieves stealing from a locally owned high end clothing store. the owners say it happened late last night, and the thieves made off with more than $60,000 in merchandise. and less than

tonight, five people accused of felony's related to the smash- and-grab crime spree in union square last week entering in pleas to all charges. per the judge's orders, we're not allowed to show their faces. they all face felony charges related to burglary and theft. miller was said to be the driver of thus mist age seen on numerous videos. the judge ruled miller and speed are not to be released from custody, charging documents reveal miller has prior burglary convictioning, speed has prior gun and drug- related conversations. bond was set at $5,000 for cherry and white. during a tuesday news conference, district attorney chesa boudin had strong words. >> and we stand together, united to send a message to anyone who would consider committing these kinds of crimes in san francisco that it will not be tolerated. you will be arrested. you will be brought to justice. and you will face serious consequences when you commit serious crimes. >> reporter: one of the prosecutors argued the incident was more than just a burglary. a defense attorney took issue with that claim. >> so max do police expe
