yvonne? yvonne: su, thank you. new research coming up from bloomberg shows the extremity of these supply crunches. it is one of the biggest logjams we are seeing and how this could be pushing prices higher. take a look at the supply indices in the u.s. or the e.u. these have basically shut up to two decade highs. whether it is a shortage of truck drivers to move things around to how you make that supply. this is just looking like this could get worse this year. david: in fact, already we have started talking about this -- shipping stuff around the world, sending stuff whether air, freig ht, on roads. the rates. we really crunch the data on this whether it is services and manufacturing, labor, backlogs. the whole gamut of measures. we have gone from almost extreme excess to extreme tightness. rish, the question is at what point do central banks need to step in and should they step in, given the dynamics of the type of inflation? that eventually will affect demand anyway. rishaad: absolutely. this is the issue to tak

yvonne: take a look at markets. we have stabilized a bit, we are off the lows when it comes to the risk assets. still seeing some downside when it comes to equities in asia. take a look at when it comes to volumes, quite pronounced here today as we try to assess the effects of omicron. when it comes to mxap, we are seeing volumes basically up in most of this index today with a few exceptions which we are seeing in that pie chart. the volume has come off, but it is still slightly higher. it is too early to tell what everyone thinks about this latest virus strain. will we see a repeat of 20 20? citi came out and recommended cutting risk. we are going to see more lockdowns. rishaad: looking at some of these volumes. the hang seng is 6% or 7% up than it normally would be an idyllic this is markets are seeing a bit of extra back and seeing a comeback take place. the hang seng is still negative, 0.4%, the biggest decline so far is the philippine comp, down over 2%. yvonne: and when you look at central banks, people are ta

yvonne: it's yvonne in hong kong. i hear some central banks talking about inflation, it's just transitory, that we might see the supply chain bottlenecks ease early next year, that perhaps there is not a need to frontload these rate hikes. what do you say to that? what makes you so convinced that inflation is not transitory? christian: you really have to look at the different elements of inflation and where the inflation is coming through in the economy. certainly there are a lot of funnels happening at the moment. particularly the supply side disruptions, the supply chain disruptions that are causing these these are more prolonged than we had originally anticipated. we see those dissipating through time. our inflation forecast domestically is for inflation to lift from a little under 5% to under 6%, then come down in the second half of next year. it is what global central banks are talking about. we set inflation pressures building as well. we see that in our nontradables inflation here locally. it is those domestic
