thank you for being here, director arndt. i do just want to say, i think we should be clear that this is really a false choice. this is not a real choice for this body, because i don't really understand how funding a recall election supports our school district. it doesn't go toward any programming. it doesn't go toward any strategies to address the achievement gap that exists for our young people. it doesn't increase pay for educators. it doesn't do any of the things that we need resources for our schools, so for us to pretend like we're doing something great for the school district, i would have to disagree with anybody who thinks that is the case. so it's a real false choice. however, the district should not be paying for a recall. the city should not be paying for a recall. and trying to remove all people of color from their elected posts. that's not something that the district or the city should be charged with and the people who call for the recall should have to pay for this themselves. so we're at a point where we're
