it does speak volumes that officials are closing beaches in southern california, right? >> right, so we see these images from santa cruz, you have a lot of beaches from santa cruz and down through southern california, newport beach, huntington beach, san diego with mission beach with a lot of tourists that are often on the beach, not familiar with the way the ocean works. this is one of the reasons why they have decided to close some of these beach areas to keep people away from the shore and from entering the water. now, the alert has also been issued for people on boats with the water rising, and these one to two foot waves that could have an effect on the people that are on these boats, often in these areas. these boats could be pushed into rocky areas and eventually crash. these are the types of accidents that can happen when these currents increase. for now the alert continues, the advisory continues, and they're still asking people to stay away from a lot of these beach areas. as you mentioned at least here in southern california, many of them have been closed down
