i'm catherine heenan and i'm ken wayne. a busy afternoon for school staff around the bay area and police today, 3 schools all experience separate security concerns and all within a matter of minutes, just as students were getting ready to leave for the holiday weekend on the peninsula. belmont police are investigating a shooting that prompted a shelter-in-place order and calm on high school. and police say that happened on butler. good drive about 2.30, in the afternoon. a report came in saying there had been at least one gunshot in the area. no injuries were reported. no information has been released on a suspect. investigators call it an isolated incident. students were able to leave the campus safely. although belmont police to use the term lock down the school went into secure technically that means the school locked its stores as a precaution. but that also means there's no imminent threat. meantime, a lock down at james logan high school in union city has been lifted. >> and students they're released from the campus.

i'm ken wayne. i'm pam moore. that lawsuit comes almost 2 years to the day that taylor was killed. kron four's dan kerman reports. it meant a great deal to us. we're going to miss him very much. the mother of steven taylor joined attorneys for the family tuesday. >> to announce they filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the city of san leandro and 2 police officers alleging the killing of taylor at the hands of police violated his civil rights in the american with disabilities act. the city of san leandro and the police department certainly have blood on their hands. this is situation that was wholly preventable should not have happened. but for officers violating the training. but for the city of san leandro turning a blind eye to the pattern conduct of its officers. it was on april 18th of 2021. police confronted taylor at walmart on his sperry and boulevard. police say officer jason fletcher advice tailored to drop an aluminum bat and when he didn't, police say fletcher tased him twice. authorities say taylor felt the shock of the taser and pointed the bat at the ground. police

i'm ken wayne and i'm pam moore. the san jose police department says it is these 3 people who are in custody. jose point t o yes, ramirez and ball. the male sandoval is say the air as well as with brandon's grandmother earlier in the day and may have been communicating with that is who they believe is pictured a right here in this surveillance video walking where baby brandon was being cared for by his grandmother. she had just stepped out to get some groceries at the time of the kidnapping police have not revealed a motive in the case. and right now, all 3 suspects face a number of charges, including kidnapping, child abduction and home invasion. here's a timeline of the events leading up to the baby brandon's rescue on monday. the 3 month-old was reported missing just after one in the afternoon shortly after 5 is when san jose police announced the kidnapping and release pictures of the missing child and the suspect. and later monday night, the fbi joined in the search for the infant on tuesday morning, san jose pol

i'm ken wayne. i'm pam moore. and we are now learning officials say the 62 year-old frank james called police to turn himself in. reporter paul gerke has more. >> hundreds of detectives spent the last day scouring surveillance footage in new york city looking for their man. they found him boarding the subway at kings highway with the same black heart recovered at the scene of the shootings. just a few stops away. the key to the u haul found at the scene was traced back to philadelphia where james rented it. the van was recovered just 3 blocks from that first surveillance picture. james is a new york city native but has ties to several states, including new jersey, wisconsin, pennsylvania, and ohio where he bought the 9 millimeter glock used in the shootings at a shop. in 2011. we were able to shrink his world quickly. there was nowhere left for him to run. he was well known to law enforcement. james had 9 prior arrest in new york and 3 in new jersey dating back as far as 1992 and as recently as 2007 for a wide var
