we talk to people on both sides of the chesa boudin recall effort. good evening. thanks for joining us. i'm juliette goodrich. >> we begin with a violent night in san jose. two people killed in san jose last night over an eight-hour span. one of them a safeway worker on the job. just after 3:30 this morning, san jose police swarmed the safeway store on hamilton avenue in willow glen, cordoning off the store and the parking lot. the employee's name has not been released. the suspect not identified, still at large. this was san jose's 14th homicide of the year. there is no known motive tonight. a suspect was arrested, though, in another shooting that happened just a few hours earlier. a man was killed on monterey road near capital expressway before 7:30 last night. police arrested 38-year-old vu thai. he was booked into the main jail on homicide charges. no word yet on what led to the shooting. >>> san jose police also spent the night chasing down sideshows in t streendattracting big crow. this one smoking up the intersection of mayberry road in berryessa station wa

boudin was yesterday. because of the people are hacked off that during the pandemic, rather than reopen the schools, they spent their time renaming 1/3 of the schools. it's like rather than go to school let's just put a new name on the school where the kids aren't going. great. >> pete: it is. not a single citywide official in san francisco that is a republican. this desperate-controlled town where if they had the opportunity to create the utopia they believed in, they could. instead, their ideas are so radical that not only are people leaving san francisco, the population has declined but now they are rejecting these policies whole cloth. could george gascon be next in los angeles? and could that mayor's race where a former republican turned democrat is running on law and order give that city an opportunity as well? all that optimism makes me look around here in new york city though as well where eric adams was elected potentially to clean the city up and things are still going in the wrong direction. >>

so what is next for chesa boudin ? what are his supporters hoping for now? stephanie: that is a great question, one that many of his supporters want to know the answer to and i will say that was very tightlipped about any future plans after the news tonight but his supporters are wondering, would he consider going back to the public defenders office? we know he served there for four years before assuming office in 2019 but other supporters were quick to refute that, saying he belongs in the da's office so there is speculation, could he run again for reelection? we will see. liz: that will be fascinating to see. we appreciate it. dan: recall supporters are celebrating tonight. tim johns is in san francisco where he spent the evening with them. obviously, they are ready and anticipating a big change in the da's office. tim: that is right, dan. since the results were announced a couple of hours ago, there has been a lot of celebration and cheering here in san francisco. it is worth noting that the supporters we talked to say you have to remember that this race

i'm voting yes on h to recall chesa boudin now. we can't wait one more day when people are dying on our streets. pley shooting at a safeway store officers say safeway employee identified as 24 year old manuel cornejo was shot early yesterday morning while confronting a man stealing alcohol from the store located on hamilton's avenue. at this point, no resident made. investigators are checking surveillance video from surrounding homes and businesses in hopes of finding an image of the gunmen explosion and fire inside a hangar at the petaluma airport destroyed a small plane and a sports car happened just before noon today. the steel hanger did not allow that fire to spread to other adjacent hangars, and the hangar itself did not collapse. no injuries were reported. the cause is still under investigation and the potential recall of san francisco district attorney chase a. boudin is being watched very closely around the country. tomorrow elections officials will begin to count ballots. that includes prop h, the recall measure that will

but chesa boudin will be out when all the votes are counted. you could see here, more than 60%, or more than two thirds of the foot, in more than 60% of san francisco's -- san franciscans are voting to remove him from office. >> steve, was this trending in this way over the last couple of weeks? you probably had a better pulse of the polls in the way this was going for chesa boudin. >> yeah, i mean it's tough to say. because it wasn't a heavily pulled race. but we did see some polling on this, certainly the early polling that we saw on this suggested that chesa boudin was likely to be removed from office, perhaps lopsidedly. there was some indications and i think maybe it was more anecdotal. but there were some indications in the closing days in the campaign that perhaps that was tightening. but, again, when you get an inital report of this magnitude, you could just see here, it was what that initial polling suggested. it was a blow out. it will be interesting to see kind of around the margins. but what you're seeing here, as i say, again these
