congresswoman cheney's opening statement, for instance, in which she told the jury, in this case, the audience, what they would -- what they will hear, what they should expect to hear over the coming several weeks of hearings. there are also parts of this story that we heard today that are incredibly compelling and emotional but not necessarily probative of the central questions, at least central to my mind. which is, for instance, did president trump knowingly and intentionally engage in a plot, lead a plot, direct a plot to impede the congress and to overturn the electoral vote? so, as a prosecutor, i have one reaction. as an american, quite another. they're not exactly on parallel tracks but it is a very complex, multifaceted story, and if congresswoman cheney and the committee deliver what she promised to deliver, i think it will be compelling watching. >> all right, and now yamiche, then there is politics. republicans, we heard some of the reaction, calling this a political witch hunt. can it be two things? can it be a political use for democrats but also be very true? >> it can
