we've covered missouri, tennessee, protests here in washington, d.c. as well. we want to go to new york, where we're seeing some protests happening there in the union square area. obviously, america has been the epicenter of a lot of activism when it comes to abortion rights in general. yet another way in which we're seeing that play out there on the ground. in new york. this is just a picture of what's happening across the country. we go to headlines across the country, of course, declaring roe, in fact, had been overturned. the 50-year precedent in place. so, women in states like tennessee are certainly going to be forced to travel across state lines to seek these abortions. on wednesday, they're expecting an influence with maryland who passed a law this year shoring up abortion access in the state. amid fears that roe would ultimately be overturned by the court. now that those very fears have been overturned, one of -- put this. maryland is going to be under a lot of pressure. we are the southernmost safe state. she joins me now, state delegate aarian kelly.

d.c.'s mayor up for reelection now says the money could help with patrols and lowering response times. also watching another violent weekend in chicago where at least 38 people were shot and 4 people killed. majority of the shootings taking place in the city's south and west sides of chicago. back east in new york's harlem neighborhood one person was killed and others shot. they couldn't believe how many gunshots were heard. the man killed was only 21 years old. it's not just shootings plaguing new york. police released new surveillance video showing two masked men robbing a 74-year-old woman in an elevator happening last wednesday in brooklyn. it appears the woman was not hurt in the robbery but suspects made off with her property. the videos are coming out on a daily basis. crime is a concern not just in new york but in cities coast to coast. >> harris: not for the liberal d.a.s in some cities. mark meredith. thank you very much. pressure is growing on those liberal district attorneys esp

nevertheless, the d.c. m metropolitan police have activated their entire department in preparation for more protests this weekend. there have been small demonstrations outside the homes of some of the justices after that draft decision was leaked. now, earlier this month, an armed man was arrested near justice kavanaugh's home and charged with attempted murder. cnn national security analyst juliette chi am is here, former homeland security official. let's start with the justices' safety. how do you keep the justices and their families safe right now. >> well, this is something that's been already addressed in terms of increased protection for them. they have essentially secret service details, not exactly the same, and their security is not often exposed but it is to protect their spouses, and their children. i should admit the rest of the judiciary, i'm married to a judge. the rest of the judiciary is protect bid marshals if anything like this came up. the supreme court is different. we know there are peop
