ktvu cristina rendon reports. first responders were put to the test responding to gun violence, illegal fireworks as well as three homicides over the holiday weekend. a three year old boy inside of a car shot in the stomach. it happened outside of an apartment complex on 26th avenue in east oakland around 8 30 monday night as the fourth of july celebrations were underway. the oakland police chief says a three year old had severe injuries to his torso. officers chose to take the boy to the hospital in their own patrol car decision that likely saved his life, according to medical staff. detectives are investigating a possible relatives involvement in the shooting. three year old almost lost his life. whatever the circumstances, i don't believe that a family member intentionally fired this gun and tried to injure this child, but i think what we would like to see in this case is that whoever was responsible for would come forth. and explain that to us about an hour later during the oakland a's postgame fireworks show,
