kelly, i want to talk to you. with a record amount of women, particularly in some of these divinatory races, how are you seeing women lean into their experiences as women while campaigning, and d.c. much of a difference between republicans and democrats and how they approach that? guest: we have seen some real evolution, i would say, and how women navigate gender on the campaign trail, especially, again, in recent elections. in 2018, we had this record year for women, particularly democratic women, running for office. he saw increased diversity among those women, and diversity of all types. race, ethnicity, age, class-based differences, and also professional backgrounds that were different, women coming into these campaigns. when they did so, they were also more likely to use their gender and their gender-based experiences and perspectives, most importantly, as an electoral asset, something they brought to the table, among the credentials they brought. instead of thinking about it as a hurdle they had to overcome.

kelly, you as well closing in on your opponents. what are the issues you're hearing from independents and voters today, kelly? >> thanks so much for having me, maria with. i'm actually joining you from valdese, alaska, the community at the end of pipeline that brings all of our oil from the north slope down so it can be shipped out. and that's exactly what we're talking about. i've knocked thousands of doors across the state. the number one thing i hear is inflation and jobs. we've lost over 25,000 jobs in our oil and gas industry across this state, and those jobs haven't been refilled since the biden administration, there's a lot of policies coming from d.c. that shut town our industry. the main way is through deb holland, the radical call environmentalist who's the interior secretary. biden's making good on his promise to shut down on our fuel industries, and it was lisa murkowski who cast the tie-breaking vote for that nomination. my mom got a job with with the slope at the start of the pipeline build, and that changed everything

good evening, kelly. >> good evening to you, bret. after a strong couple of days to start off the fourth quarter earlier this week, stocks are now plummeting and driving that sell off is today's jobs report. at first glance the report is strong 263,000 jobs were added beating an expectation of 250,000. the unemployment rate also came in slightly lower than expected at 3.5%. president biden today touting the economy's performance. >> just look at today's jobs report. our economy created 263,000 jobs last month. that's 10 million jobs since i have come into office. historic progress. the unemployment rate remains at historic low, 3.5% unemployment. >> but digging into the numbers, the workforce participation rate dropped slightly and the economy actually lost 57,000 workers sips last month. on top of that, while hourly earnings increased by 5 officers. real wages are decreasing with inflation at 8.3%. that money earned doesn't go as far when consumers go to the grocery store or the gas pump. so while the jobs report may have been strong
