maria. maria: maria: grady trimble. >> first of all, if the minister from saudi arabia thinks oil supply is so tight they should not be considering up to a million barrel a day cut in meeting tomorrow. it is true that supplies are tight. we are seeing inventories around the world continue to decline. in fact, gasoline inventories on the west coast are at ten-year law and midwest gasoline inventories are at 30-year low. maria: dagen, jump in. what about the policy response? i was looking down in florida as one example and this was a planned gasoline tax holiday, but i went into effect in -- on october the first in florida and when you're -- when you have tight supplies particularly in florida after hurricane ian and run away inflation, how does -- encouraging and giving incentives to people to use more gasoline, how does that make any policy sense? >> well, i agree with you dagen. what it does is provide temporary relief to the consumer but it does nothing as far as getting more oil and natur

maria: you're right. you know what, everybody knows the oil market is based on supply and demand and to constantly come out on the oil companies making believe they are setting the price, he's selling at least a million barrels a day out of strategic oil reserves. it's supposed to be for a crisis, joe. >> i guess the putin price hike is back. the washington post cheerleading for the administration. as gas prices rise, biden administration puts oil companies on notice. >> getting tough. maria: shaking in their boots. joe: it's like me gaining 50 pounds, right, and then over a couple of weeks after i gained the 50i lose 7 pounds back and say i never lost more weight this quickly in my life. that's what the administration is trying to do and taking credit for bringing prices now. the problem is i'm putting the weight back on. maria: we laugh about this but this is a really important issue and serious impact on the american people, brian. brian: there's nobody watching watching prices go back up and economics

maria: terrible. liz. >> well, i also think it really has a big influence on earnings growth for a lot of big multinational corporations. we're looking at a chinese economy that slowed radically. their stock market is back to i think where it was 15 years ago. people are really pessimistic about what china's outlook is and that really bears a lot on where our treasury yields are, where corporations are going to be investing. i think this is a big deal, maria. people are very worried that xi jinping policies are bad for china and bad for world growth. maria: it is a big deal. ken, bring is back domestic here. we have a big week of tech earnings, the gdp and pce out. your expectations, ken. >> first of all, sometimes you come in hot in earnings season and you sell the news. obviously, we're not coming in hot into earnings season, we're coming in limping with broken collar bones and everything. sometimes the expectations are so low. big earnings, apple, microsoft, google, a amazon, one thing i tl your vi

maria: yeah. i think it's interesting, adam, that the market is rallying as much as it is on earnings news even as interest rates creep higher. the federal reserve is going to meet november 1st and 2nd to raise rates probably another 75 a basis points, the 10 year is as 4% and look at the market. >> yeah, well, you know, you look at the futures this morning and we're up. the real story here, this what is i wrestle with as i have meetings with the investment team, do you buy here or do you not buy here and i think when you look at valuation, the s&p 500 trading about 15 times earnings, maria, that's his the tore cl -- historically cheap. you have the nation at full employment. you have earnings they that actually may -- may put up another all-time high. i know it sounds crazy to say that. they may very well do that. i think you have to buy at 15 times earnings. that is historically cheap. inflation is a problem. if you have the two es of earnings and employment, i think that's a counter balance to

maria: yeah. unfortunately, all of these policies out of this white house has stoked inflation, like $5 trillion many spending, like shutting down energy production in america. andy, you're a restaurant guy. we saw a production, producer price index this weekes -- this week which was also hotter than expected. when the restaurants and producers have to pay more, they have to pass it on, right? they're certainly not going to swallow those extra costs forever. >> well, you swallow the costs for too long, you go out of business. so they're either not going to be around, or they're going to have to pass these costs on. and that's a big part of what's driving inflation now. we really have never supported the supply side by, you know, cutting taxes, deregulated as opposed to this excessive regulation. focusingen on domestic energy if production, you know, a good example is this independent contractor regulation they're talking about coming up. that's going to hurt gig workers, franchisees, it's going to

maria: yeah. we have bank of america strategists telling clients that wall street rout is forcing asset liquidation. that's one of those things that makes the cycle even worse with heyier -- heavier selling. we also have larry summers talking about no way of a soft landing with the principal reserve raising rates -- federal reserve raising rates the way they are. and this week we saw the 10-year hit 4% which was one of the biggest moves that we've seen in a long time at 4% on the 10-year. it ended the week off of that but, troy, what does that mean when you see the benchmark, the rate that is the benchmark for mortgages and borrowing hit a level of 4%? >> yeah. so, basically, remember, what the federal reserve wants here is tighter financial conditions, higher yields, lower valuations for equities and now lower valuations for real estate. so basically, people forget about what a huge tailwind it's been for all assets as we've had lower and lower interest rates really since the volcker era, but par
