we're seeing a lot of heavy rain across the south bay. look at santa clara, where we are seeing a lot of yellows and oranges, sunnyvale as well. there may be some standing water on the roadways. and then as you're going up 101 or 280, either one is going to be very sloppy. we've also seen some of the rain changing over to snow in the berkeley hills and we're also going to see some off and on showers continue there as well. as far as the north bay, up around lake and mendocino counties, it's starting to taper off and we're also starting to see it wrapping up for parts of northern napa county, and then look at the wide view where we had the lightning strikes over the santa cruz mountains, as well as san francisco. here is the center of the storm, so it's still in the area and it will continue to bring us more rain, as well as snow. here is what to expect as the rain and snow continues. our winds are gusting at about 25 to 35 miles per hour, and there still will be the chance that we could see lightning and small hail. all of that will start

all the way down to the south bay and then it lingers through the south bay through about 11:00 tomorrow night. then as we roll through sunday where we could get into some additional totals, we'll see scattered areas of rain, chance of some isolated thunderstorms, maybe even some of that small hail. again, the worst and the heaviest widespread rain is expected tomorrow evening. rainfall totals on this, much higher than what we saw today, anywhere from a half to 1 inch for most of the bay area. then you get down in the south bay where it could linger a little longer and you could see these red zones over los gatos, santa cruz mountains, morgan hill, even for areas near fremont where totals would be 1 to maybe 1 1/2 inches. a pretty good punch here of weather coming our way as we head through tomorrow night. wind is also something that could bring down some trees, make even some power outages. tomorrow morning it's not that bad, 10 to about 20 miles per hour, but look at this. as that storm front moves in, 20 to 50-mile-per-hour gusts at 10 p.m. tomorrow night. it will be a quick blast of

let's take you to the south bay. check out the observatory on mount hamilton, they are out plowing and trying to keep up with caltrans plans to keep mount hamilton road closed until at least sunday. it has been quite an eventful 24 hours, not just with the snow, but rain and we are getting a bit of a break right now. paul heggen has been busy counting up the totals and i must admit, i have seen some really pretty sunset pictures in the bay area. >> this has given us a spectacular sunset in the area, this is the current view from mount hamilton where the snow has stopped for a moment but they are likely to pick up a little bit more tonight. 2:00 p.m. was the last update we had, this is what it added up to at that point. over one foot of snow at mount hamilton. the amounts go down as you go down in elevation but all of these not seen snow in years, over a decade. and it brought quite a bit of rain to the area as well. here is a look at the eastern horizon. over an inch and a half, over one inch in san francisco and clo
