the oakland city council voted 6-2 to proposed budget amendments. the mayor came out with a statement herself a couple minutes ago. she's saying while she applauded the emboldened adjustment, she said that cut more officers to work overtime which is going to make thi city. and she also warns this is not going to be safe for officer re most. back in may, oakland mayor libby schaaf unveiled her two-year budget which made for money for police overtime and additional two police academies. nicki bass had her own idea of taking away existing police academies and funneling those funds into multiple departments, including the department of violence prevention and she wants to ramp up the macro program. a majority of speakers today, they supported the decision to take the mona way from opd, but some said gutting money from an overstaffed police department will not make the city safer. >> i'm concerned about the level of violence, especially in east oakland, and we must realize we're living in an anomaly of a year. >> what the heck is going on with that depar

the oakland city council plans to discuss and vote july 20th on terms of agreement for the oakland a's waterfront ballpark proposal at howard terminal. oakland a's president dave cavill, says negotiations continue, but there's still a wide gap. it's a hard deadline. you know, we've been working for almost five years on this project. so it's not like we're asking for a snap vote. the two sides remained pretty far apart over a half a billion dollars apart. cavil says the aids proposal includes privately paying for the $1 billion 35,000 seat ballpark, and the developer has made concessions, agreeing to remain for 30 years instead of the initial offer of 20 and creating tax districts to generate funds for community benefits. the sticking points it deferred maintenance and a lot of parts of the city that you know, we don't think the project should be responsible for but some oakland's city council members say the main sticking point is affordable housing and the a's plan to build 3000 housing units does not follow that law were kind of shocked, relates are requirement says, if you do that m

robbers right outside oakland city hall. but the news crews guard pulled out a weapon and scare them off. chief armstrong says this incident is also under investigation. henry lee ktvu, fox two news. the oakland fire department has sent to members of its regional fema urban search and rescue task force to florida to help look for survivors of the condo building collapsed near miami. oakland fire battalion chief chris landry and contra costa fire protection district assistant fire chief jeff peter boarded a plane today. their plan is to support crews already on the scene, and that could mean helping them get more tools and resources or digging through the rubble and searching for any possible survivors. now, five days after. that collapse. 11 bodies have been recovered from the rubble. there are still 150 people unaccounted for, so the search goes on. rescue teams are using heavy machinery to remove large slabs of concrete sonar, sonar rather and canine crews are also being used. we're going to continue and work ceaselessly t
