Windows 95 theme Read Me file:
Thunder Cats HO!!! You Need MS Plus! To install a theme. //NEAT WINDOWS 95 JUNK AT THE END!!! Thank you for downloading my nifty theme! Keep in mind, this is the first theme that I have made so if I flubbed up let me Know e-mail me at Shade13@juno.com send me some mail also if you know a good program to make screen savers with. INSTALLATION PROCEDURES STEP ONE- Create a folder in your themes diretory called "Thunder" Unzip the file in the themes folder (c:\program files\plus!\themes\thunder is the default.) I suggest you use the latest version of WinZip (TM:) or else the Long File names get lost. STEP TWO- Find what you just Unzipped, go into the Thunder folder and then the Extra's folder. Take the stolen X-files.ttf and place it in with all of your other fonts (c:\windows\fonts) STEP THREE- Go to start, settings, control panel. Double click on Desktop Themes (If you Don't got it Ya' can't do it). STEP FORE- In Themes pull down the Thingy that says Theme: (am I sensing a... oh sorry) Drag it down to other... STEP FIVE- Double click on the Thunder folder. Double click on Tunder.theme. Click Apply and OK. >>>If you don't want to Change your ugly Startup and Shutdown screens you are now finished. If you do KEEP READING<<< STEP SIX- go start, find, LOGO.SYS. If you haven't been having fun with yours already, you will get two, one in the thunder folder. The other in your host drive (c:\logo.sys). Single Click on the name of the one on your host drive to rename it call it something that you can remember what it is (like Reallogo.sys). Now put mine where the old one is. STEP THE NEXT- To change to Waiting to Shutdown and the Shutdown screens, do the same as in step six for the files called LOGOW.SYS and LOGOS.SYS (The real ones are usually in C:\windows\). Wow I made that so simple a mac owner could do it! BUT THEY CAN'T! AH HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA... ha... um.. Sorry about that. ////// GOODIES! \\\\\\ Here is some neat junk that I have learned about Windows 95. MAKE YOUR OWN STARTUP AND SHUTDOWN SCREENS. You see people make them but you can't get yours to work? Here's how Your real starts and shuts are as follows- Startup Screen = Logo.sys (c:\logo.sys} Waiting Screen = Logow.sys (c:\windows\logow.sys) Shutdown Screen = Logos.sys (c:\windows\logo.sys) (NIFTY SIDE HINT) *.sys's can be viewed with MSPaint ALL OF YOUR PICS MUST BE- 320x400 8 bit (265 colors) & called the correct file name in the correct place 320x400 is the final size of the image. When you draw it make you paper 640x480, and when your finished change it to 320x400. ///Problem?\\\ Double check your file is (for example) logo.sys and not logo.sys.bmp (this one screwed my up for a while) ///Look Funny?\\\ Make sure you didn't keep the proportions when you resized it to 320x400 USE ANY BITMAP (.BMP) AS AN ICON It's true you can use any bmp as icon simply by selecting it when your changing icons (make sure you go to show all files). This dose not mean it will look good! I've found It looks best if you make the bmp 32x32 or 64x64 if you use large icons. Well your on your way to having a swell desktop!
