Thanks for a new word: hyp-na-go-gic : of, relating to, or occurring in the period of drowsiness immediately preceding sleep *hypnagogic hallucinations*. On a couple of occasions, on the way home from high school in the mid to late 60's, I saw Jerry Garcia and Pigpen sitting in the afternoon sun on the front stairs of the flat on Ashbury Street, possibly in a hypnagogic state.
