Is the valley.exe a dos program? I downloaded a copy and tried to run it in Dosbox but it didn't do anything.

Yes it is.
I've copied it from a floppy disc.

For me it only runs when I start it on a real WinXP machine.

The exe in the zip file worked for me. So I would replace the .exe file you uploaded with the zip file from that website. Then you need to add the following fields and values to your item

field, value

emulator, dosbox
emulator_ext, zip
emulator_start, valley.exe

(for reference: emulator_start gotta be without extension. so its "valley")
