Hello Jeff,

Excellent!!! Very, very much appreciated.

I wonder if I could trouble you further? I note that the record begins at April, 1932. Do you know if it's possible that January-March could be on the back end of another file - say end of 1931? I've seen other files in the collection that have been split similarly.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Kind regards,

Sonia

sorry, i don't have access to that information. you'd need to go item by item to get that information. see https://archive.org/search.php?query=identifier%3Ala_caleagle_reel%2A&sort=date

Hello Jeff,

Although it was time-consuming I have actually gone through all the individual files uploaded; the dates itemised in my previous email are where I have identified gaps.

Is the Internet Archive the only repository for the paper?

Thank you for your assistance.

Kind regards,

Sonia Grant

Sonia--

I am currently reading the CA Eagle Microfilm from the Bancroft, and it includes a couple of the issues you are seeking--13 Dec. 1914 and 14 Jan. 1914. Interestingly, it then has a gap and resumes 20 June 1914. I'll have the microfilm tied up for a while, but I'd be happy to email you .pdfs of the pages from these two issues if you like. Maybe you've already discovered that some issues are also available on Newspapers.com, and there are some other repositories that own the microfilm (but only the Bancroft's has the 1913 issue, as far as I know).

Like you, I am desperately seeking 1910-1913 and have found no one who can tell me where it might be or if it is extant. Have you learned anything since you posted your inquiry earlier this year? If so, would you be willing to share that information?

Best regards,
Jennifer

Hi Jennifer,

It was such a pleasant surprise to receive a message :)

It's very kind of you to offer to send the pdfs - as mentioned - and I'd be happy to receive.

I haven't tried Bancroft --- so, thanks for that. Being based in the UK hasn't helped :)

I have taken out a subscription for newspapers.com and have found searching inside/filters and the orderly layout to be much more user-friendly.

Alas, I have not been able to progress my research at all regarding the editions for 1910-1913... However, if, by chance, I do happen upon them I'd be very happy to share the links/info with you.

Best wishes,

Sonia

Hello, Sonia,

Thanks for your reply. I am sorry, but not at all surprised, to hear you have not found those missing issues. If you would like to correspond over email, you can reach me at jtuttle@une.edu. It will be good to share resources and to commiserate over the apparent loss of these primary sources!

Best wishes,
Jennifer
