Well this is sad . Never as big of star as some of his other guitar playing contemporaries, he none the less was a guitarist's guitarist, and was revered by thosee "in the know" . As if to prove this , my serious guitar playing friends are the most upset by his death .
He first come to atention with his inovations with the Yardbirds , he created that sitar sound on "Heart Full of Soul", and he useded a banjo g sting to get the sound on "Shapes of Things" , a song that ushers in the British psychedelic period . His "Truth" album is Led Zepplin before Led Zepplin . Tthe fusion in the mid 70's and on .
