Once you understand the Old Covenant and how it was passed on to the next generation and how in the New it is GOD that passes it on then the bible explodes with meaning. Passages formerly cloudy in meaning become bright as day. For example "Simon bar jonah, flesh and blood has not shown you this but my Father in heaven." Jesus showed Peter that he had passed from the old covenant into the new one with God, not his physical father, imparting knowledge.
