I saw a great 123D Catch scan and wanted to make it 3D printable. I deleted the surroundings and made it solid, cut a flat base and added a hole in the back that supports a screw or nail so it can hang on the wall. I found a nice dragon head 3D scan by Glen Newman: http://www.123dapp.com/catch/dragon-head-clay/4983502 The scan was of only one side of the head so I decided to try the mirror option in MeshMixer - worked great! I found a nice 3D scan of a Vietnamese bas-relief of a tiger. 123D Catch scans aren't 3D printable because they are surfaces, no solids - so I put in some work to make this printable. I made the surface solid by adding a frame around it and merging that with the tiger relief, the frame has a ridged hole in the back so it can hang on a wall. I found another door lion that was 3D scanned. I turned it into a model you can hang on the wall on a nail or screw. If you like this one, I have more of these on Thingiverse! Edit (2/12/14): Notice!!/Product Safety Recall :P -- Last night I broke the front hook, because I tilted the rifle too far outwards while removing to show a friend. 50% infill printed with the hook pointed up is NOT enough plastic! If used gently it can still work with the hook pointed up, but I recommend printing with supports, lying flat on the table so the layers are mostly identical, and in ABS so supports can be easily removed for maximum strength. Not the most cost/time effective use of my life, but I lost the mount to my shiny metal 3M hook, finally got adhesive strips, and I really wanted to mount the hook. Right meow. This is a replacement part for the plastic piece (shown next to the printed version -- 2nd pic) that connects the adhesive strip to the hook. Would it be cheaper to just buy one? Maybe. Frame/hanger with customizable length for posters. It is split into two pieces and joined by a dovetail. The poster slides into a groove and is lightly clamped by a small 3mm bolt. Added a nut insert and remade the nylon thread insert (easier to print and better to mount the poster on the wall). Add a few millimeters extra to your poster length (5mm is a good value). Print with higher infill for added weight if your poster is curling. Supports are needed for the dovetail.
